Welcome to the 61st Wincobank Scout Group website!
The 61st Sheffield are a Scout Group that was formed back in 1915 and is run by a dedicated group of adult volunteers that love getting children and young people involved in nature, community, and as much adventure as possible!
The team run sessions for children aged 6 to 8 years (Beaver Scouts), 8 to 10.5 years (Cub Scouts), and 10.5 to 14 years (Scouts). We also support young adults that want to move up into Explorer Scouts (run at district level for members aged 14 to 18), and for those wishing to volunteer as a Young Leader
All of our sections run programs that work towards the badges and awards Scouting has to offer; including everything from arts & crafts, to skills for life and adventurous activities. We regularly run events, camps and activities as a group, and attend district and county events which involve other Scout Groups locally. Although we embrace modern changes to Scouting, we love getting back to our roots; loving activities such as den building, fire-making and backwoods cooking! The troop also has several leaders trained to run other activities such as archery, rifle shooting and kayaking.
If you or your child is interesting in Scouting, or you want to ask any questions, drop in and see us on any of the below days and a member of the leadership team will be happy to speak with you
Our Group is based at 61 Standon Road, Wincobank. Sheffield, S9 1PE – For directions on how to find us, click here
Our weekly meeting nights are:
Beaver & Cub Scouts: Mondays from 6:30pm to 8:00pm
Scouts: Wednesdays from 7:00pm to 9:00pm
Scouting isn’t just for young people, we are always looking for more volunteers to help out in any capacity. This can range anywhere from occasionally helping on events and around the headquarters, to being a uniformed member of the Scout Movement. If you might be interested, speak with any of the leadership team, or get in touch
